Project summary:

A chemical storage facility had to cut a new manway into an aging fiberglass tank. The tank manufacturer could not recommend a suitable repair option. Advanced FRP used a high strength carbon fiber composite repair system to join the new manway to the existing tank. A hole was cut into the tank wall, the new manway was installed. The manway was held in place, and the seam was sealed with six layers of high strength carbon fiber. The repair was topcoated and returned to service in less than 72 hours.
