Composite Pipe Repair

Solution: General Pipe Repairs - External Pipe

ID: CPR-11-00116

Project summary:

Due to the failure of a 42-inch service water pipe, a major steel mill in Ohio had both of their furnaces shut down. A temporary water stop was applied to get the plant back in service after nearly four hours. Once the active leak was stopped, a high-strength carbon fiber composite was applied as a permanent repair. This pipe section, featuring multiple flanges and other difficult to wrap geometries, was reinforced with eight to ten layers of carbon fiber.
