During a routine inspection, a power plant found extensive internal degradation of their coal pulverizers because of a shift in their coal makeup, leading to a combined corrosion/erosion mechanism. Advanced FRP Systems proposed a high-temperature, ceramic-filled, novolac epoxy solution that would allow the existing maintenance contractor at the plant to apply the coating system in two shifts and get the mills back up and running. After 4 months, the doors were inspected again and found to be in excellent condition with no observable wear or corrosion.
