Several older fiberglass chemical storage tanks in a Texas-based chemical distribution facility were experiencing degradation from chemical and UV exposure including cracking and delamination of the fiberglass. The facility required a chemically resistant solution that could provide long-term reinforcement of the tanks and could be installed with the tanks online.

Carbon fiber is an excellent material for repairs on Fiberglass tanks. The high modulus, excellent bond strength, and superior chemical resistance of Advanced FRP’s carbon fiber composites allowed this chemical distributor to reinforce and protect several aging fiberglass chemical storage tanks with an externally applied carbon fiber tank repair system without even taking them offline.
