Project Details

A piping system at a large chemical manufacturing facility used to transport wastewater from the plant to the water treatment area was badly degraded, primarily from internal corrosion. Due to the chemicals contained in the wastewater, through-wall failures in pipes created an environmental hazard.
Instead of completely replacing the 36-inch carbon steel pipes, Advanced FRP Systems recommended the plant install a carbon fiber composite reinforcement system.
A four layer internal carbon fiber composite reinforcement system compatible with ASME PCC-2 (2018) standards was installed, and helped rebuild the pipes, fix existing through-wall failures, and provide a long-term resistance from microbially-induced corrosion (MIC).
