Project summary:

An inspection company found extreme pitting in a sand filtration tank and recommended tank replacement. The pitting, primarily caused by Microbially Induced Corrosion (MIC), was deep but covered less than 15% of the tank wall. Instead of costly tank replacement, the tank was rebuilt using a high-strength carbon fiber composite system then lined internally with a ceramic-filled epoxy to slow down erosion by the sand slurry.
