Project summary:

A major leak in a process water pipe caused a partial shutdown at a steel manufacturing facility. A maintenance crew was called in for the emergency repair, but they could only reduce the flow of water. Advanced FRP was then contacted for a solution. Using a moisture cured urethane wrap to temporarily stop the water, a 6-layer carbon fiber reinforced composite system was installed over the outside of the pipe. Within 48 hours of starting the repair, the facility was able to get back online and the repair provided a long-term solution for the plant.
