Project summary:

A steel manufacturing facility was considering fully replacing an entire section of a cooling water line after several welded patch repairs failed within a few years of being installed. The plant decided that instead of replacing the entire pipe section, they would use a permanent repair solution using Advanced FRP Systems’ carbon fiber composites. The repair consisted of grit blasting the entire pipe section and then applying an external carbon fiber wrap. The repair created a structurally independent non-metallic pipe that will not corrode and provides a 20-year, leak-free life extension to this piping segment.
