Project summary:

During a routine inspection, a major utility provider found significant corrosion on a section of 24-inch diameter gas mains, forcing the operator to reduce the pressure on the line. An emergency repair was required to bring the pipe back to its original design parameters and to protect it from further external corrosion. Advanced FRP was able to provide a DOT-compliant repair system using externally applied carbon fiber composites to reinforce the steel pipe. Over 600 linear feet of composite reinforcement was installed and the utility was able to re-establish full pressure on this critical gas pipeline.
